Together on the Path

Lam Rim course based on the text “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand” of Paponka Rinpoche

The Lam Rim, translated as “Gradual Path,” is a fundamental teaching of Tibetan Buddhism that guides practitioners through a systematic journey toward enlightenment. Based on the teachings of the Buddha, the Lam Rim was first structured by the Indian master Atisha and later expanded by Je Tsong Khapa, who wrote the “Lam Rim Chen Mo,” a detailed work that explores the stages of the path in relation to three types of practitioners: those of lower, medium, and higher capacities.

In Pabonka Rinpoche’s book “Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand,” the Lam Rim is presented as a practical method for developing the mind and addressing inner afflictions. Rinpoche emphasizes the importance of renunciation, bodhicitta (the altruistic intention to attain enlightenment for the benefit of others), and the understanding of emptiness. These elements are essential for progressing on the spiritual path and realizing the true nature of reality.

The Lam Rim is not merely a series of instructions; it is an invitation to deeply reflect on one’s life and motivations. Tara Chittamani is a special practice in Tibetan Buddhism which helps us to connect and identify with the pure crystal energy of the female divinity Tara, also known as the Liberator and Swift Heroine for the speed which characterises her intervention. The special energy of Tara, who is the consort of Buddha Amoghasiddhi, the Supreme Healer of fear, is a precious method to overcoming all external, internal and secret fears and to progressing quickly on the spiritual path until enlightenment.
