The Sangha Choir
Mantras are the qualities of the Buddha’s body, speech and mind that manifest in the form of sound.
Group singing has been an essential human trait for tens of thousands of years; it was traditionally a “community building” exercise in which everyone participated.
Recent neurological research shows that our brain, when we sing with others, releases oxytocin, a chemical involved in social bonding which is believed to give rise to feelings of togetherness and friendship; group singing, in other words, scientifically strengthens a community. It is also claimed that the act of listening when singing in a group causes the participants’ brain responses to synchronize with each other so that we feel closer to each other.
The meeting is open to all and no preparation or singing ability is required.
During the meeting, musical notions and breathing techniques will be transmitted.
