According to tradition, the anniversary of Drubwang Gangchen Rinpoche’s parinirvana is celebrated on the day of the Tibetan lunar calendar.
However this event, scheduled for April 17 and 18, honors Drubwang Gangchen Rinpoche’s paranirvana according to the solar calendar (April 18). In particular, we have chosen the Puja of 1000 offerings to Ushnisha Vijaya since it is the ceremony that Lama Gangchen Rinpoche offered to commemorate the anniversary of the parinirvana of his master His Holiness Trijang Dorje Chang.
The practice of Tara Chittamani is a special method in Tibetan Buddhism which helps to dissipate interferences and liberate sentient beings from any form of fear and dangers.
Ushnishavijaya (in Tibetan, Tsug-tor Nam-par Ghiel-ma or NamGhyelma) is a special emanation of the Supreme Healer Vairochana and is, along with White Tara and Buddha Amitayus, one of the three main deities of long life in the Ganden Nyengyu tradition. She is also considered an emanation of Prajnaparamita, the Perfection of Wisdom, and the Mother of all Buddhas.
