The name Chenresig (in Tibetan) or Avalokiteshvara (in Sanskrit) means ‘The Lord who has Compassion for all sentient beings’. For more than two thousand years he has been one of the most popular buddhas in the Mahayana Buddhist pantheon and his practice leads to the development of unconditional love, compassion, the mind of enlightenment and transcendent wisdom. Nagarjuna, in his work Letter to a Friend, addressed to his patron King Gotamiputra, wrote: ‘The offering of three hundred cups of food a day cannot equal the portion of merit acquired by an instant of love’.
Lama Caroline will teach the various meditative practices of Chenresig Avalokiteshvara – Thousand Arms Chenresig, Four Arms Chenresig, Eye opening Chenresig and Chenresig NgalSo – contained in Lama Gangchen Rinpoche’s collection Feast of Compassion.
