In Tibet calligraphy is a sacred art. The letters are one of the veichles through we can learn and hear the Dharma. Everybody recognize, looking at it, that a statue representing the Buddha is actually representing Him; but few know that, at a deeper level, this statue represent the Enlighted Mind, why this object is a material manifestation of the Buddha himself, and due to this fact one have to follow precise rules and proportion in producing such an image, as well in thangka painting. Those rules and precise proportions are transmitted by a Lineage that endures from centuries.

The same is valid as well for the calligraphy.

There are many styles in Tibetan writing.

The one we will learn is u-chen, that means “with head”.
