A pure environment
The small and ancient village of Albagnano di Bee lies some six hundred metres in the hills above Lake Maggiore, between the lakeside town of Verbania-Intra and the famous tourist resort of Premeno. Albagnano is perfectly placed just nearby the nature reserve of “Sacro Monte della Santissima Trinità di Ghiffa” and the “Val Grande National Park” mountain range, overlooking the suggestive landscape of the lake. Surrounded by a pine forest and chestnut trees, it is the ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, in an environment where the elements are still pure.
Val Grande National Park
Val Grande is the largest wilderness in Europe, an unspoilt island of mountains and valleys with fascinating and mysterious places among canyons, precipices, dense woods and breath-taking views. It starts from the edge of the basin of Lake Maggiore and extends until it meets the southern sector of the Lepontine Alps.
Lake Maggiore
Lake Maggiore is appreciated by both foreigners and Italians for its natural treasures and architectonics. Its charming banks have always been a popular destination for poets, writers and personalities throughout history. From here it is possible to enjoy beautiful and diverse landscapes: the lake, the mountains, ski resorts, villages, and famous tourist places such as Stresa and Orta San Giulio. Unmissable are the Borromean Islands: Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori and the magnificent villas that look down on the lake.
The area around Lake Maggiore is known worldwide for its flower-filled parks such as the beautiful botanical gardens of Villa Taranto, Villa Ducale and the park of Villa Pallavicino where animals of all species roam in freedom.
Activities
Lake Maggiore and its surroundings are a popular destination for those who want to practice water sports, such as sailing, canoeing, wind surfing, water-skiing, or for those who love the mountains with the possibility of skiing or trekking. Cycling is locally also a very common activity and races and marathons are continuously organised.
During a stay in this area it is possible to take advantage of the beaches on the shores of Lake Maggiore and Lake Mergozzo or simply relax in the nearby Premia or Locarno thermal spas.
