A ritual of meditation and recitation
Guru Puja is a traditional ritual of meditation and recitation, involving invocation and offerings to the spiritual teacher, to all sacred beings, and to all sentient beings. It is one of the most important practices in Tibetan Buddhism. In addition to being a complete and excellent tool for spiritual development, its practice is a powerful method for purifying negativities and increasing positive qualities and energies.
The Guru Puja is performed daily at the AHMC and is dedicated to inner and world peace. During the tsog, a special offering prayer called ganachakra is recited 108 times. Lama Gangchen Rinpoche initiated this daily recitation after the September 11, 2001 event in New York, dedicating it to world peace. Since then, the ganachakra has been recited over six million times.
Guru Puja is a joyful celebration open to everyone. It is a compendium of teachings from the Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana traditions. In addition to the daily dedication for world peace, special dedications are made each day for all those who request them, especially for participants in the Garden of Generosity.
