Composed by the great Indian Pandite Dipamkara Shrijnana, known as Atisha (982-1054). It is one of the texts of the Lojong (Mental Training), directed to self-improvement on the path of the bodhisattva who aspires to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. Atisha’s valuable instructions are understandable and practicable by those who wish to learn how to control the mind and free themselves from mental poisons. As stated by Atisha himself, the practice of the Jewels Garland of the bodhisattva leads to the accumulation of method and wisdom making our lives extremely meaningful. The jewels of the bodhisattva are: the gem of faith, the gem of discipline, the gem of generosity, the gem of learning, the gem of dignity, the gem of self-control, and the gem of wisdom.
