\n<\/b>The path of prayer wheels<\/b><\/h1>\n

Imagine walking a sacred path where every step becomes a prayer. Step by step in Albagnano, with everyone\u2019s help, we are realising the vision of Lama Gangchen Rinpoche to create a sacred place open to anyone who wants to develop inner peace. Part of this ambitious project is the construction of a path of traditional Tibetan prayer wheels<\/b> in the gardens of the Temple of Heaven on Earth. This path is called Mani Khorlam.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Kora and <\/b>mani khorlo<\/i><\/b><\/h2>\n

Making a kora and spinning prayer wheels are very popular practices in Asian countries: an opportunity for practitioners, but also for more inexperienced visitors to participate in a simple, authentic, dynamic spiritual practice of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kora, in Tibetan \u0f66\u0f90\u0f7c\u0f62\u0f0b\u0f62\u0f0b, is the term used for the practice of circumambulation, the clockwise walk around a sacred place<\/b>, such as a temple, stupa or holy mountain. According to Tibetan tradition, the practice of kora is enriched by the presence of prayer wheels, the traditional mani khorlo<\/i>, which practitioners can spin during their walk. The energy of the mantras, with the movement started by our hand, disperses into the ten directions of space.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This form of meditation in movement<\/b> helps us to: purify negative karma, develop compassion, accumulate merit, stimulate self-healing, plant seeds for the growth of inner peace, and especially benefits all sentient beings and the environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe project <\/b><\/h2>\n

The project involves the creation of 360 prayer wheels<\/b> to be placed on a footpath surrounding the Temple of Heaven on Earth and the Sacred Stupa of Drubwang Lama Gangchen Rinpoche.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The prayer wheels, made of wooden and metal cylinders mounted on a central axis, are filled with mantras \u2014 printed and rolled according to ancient tradition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our prayer wheels will be made by combining this ancient<\/b> tradition with modern techniques<\/b>: the structure and the wheels themselves, made by local craftsmen in Italy, will be waterproof to ensure durability and smooth functioning. Each wheel will then be covered by hand-crafted copper realised by craftsmen in Nepal, who have been making these objects for centuries, respecting both the original tradition and aesthetics.<\/span><\/p>\n

The important phase of filling the prayer wheels with rolls of printed mantras will be done by anyone who wishes to help, offering everyone a joyful opportunity to practise karma yoga.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mani Khorlam path will be 1.20 m wide and have a white granite stone base. The path will be flanked by protective supports and railings with sacred decorations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The estimated cost of the entire project is 360,000 euro.<\/b> Kunpen Lama Gangchen has presented the Mani Khorlam project for funding to the 8×1000 Italian Buddhist Union. <\/span><\/p>\n

If approved, the funding we receive will cover a portion of the budget needed to complete the project.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the remaining part, we ask for the support of the Sangha.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

How to participate<\/b><\/h2>\n

The donation for each prayer wheel is 1,000 euro<\/b>. Everyone can participate individually or by organising themselves in groups<\/b>, paying the contribution in one lump sum or in 10 installments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you make a group donation, you can enter all the participants’ names in the dedication field. All names will be placed inside the wheel.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

Project Updates <\/b>March\u00a0<\/b>2026:<\/b><\/h2>\n

The prayer wheel project continues. A wheel prototype<\/b> has been completed: the handcrafted copper covering with engraved mantras has been mounted on the rotating structure. The cost of the prototype was \u20ac6,800<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

A comprehensive estimate has been prepared for the production of the 601 prayer wheels<\/b> for the temple: the estimated cost is approximately \u20ac135,000<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The project is supported by funding from the 8\u00d71000 contribution of the Italian Buddhist Union<\/b> and by the generous donations of the Sangha.<\/p>\n\t
